Heating Assistance for NJ's Low Income Families

Star Ledger -- For many people, this is the first time they’ve ever asked for the government’s financial assistance.

That’s why the state started a program offering help to middle-income families who normally pay utility bills but are in a tough spot. The money comes from electric and natural gas ratepayers and for that reason is awarded to utility ratepayers, not those who heat their home with oil.

Wow.
"a surcharge called the Societal Benefits Charge that all electric and natural gas users in New Jersey pay for"

So a family of 4 making 100k a year can get assistance.

Obama cut the oil heating program in Maine by half, isn't that what the demos complain about the reps?

Just another way the fossil fuel haters have put the little guy in a hard place.

The Eco-nazi regime has added so much cost to oil that people are freezing to death because the high price of heating oil.

Until we revive our national, not private industry, space program, it's just going to get worse. If people are out of work, they don't have any 'discretionary' money (and much less essentials monies) to spend.

no matter the program, there is always a catch. It's is like reading the small print, the problems stems from the details.

oh doe...

isn't there any postiing that you can let 'just be' except for your own sorry ones??

the fossil foolers really have folks over the barrel with home heating oil prices.. highest in years.. good thing our winter has been mild... or these folks would be "camping in" in the malls and libraries just to keep warm...

To add to prev .post. There are those that can work but don't or Won't and the ones that WON'T should be either made to work or have subsidies cut as some have been on the "Take for decades".
