U.S. crude and gasoline stocks up
Thursday, November 20, 2008
Reuters -- NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil inventories rose more than expected last week as imports rebounded, while distillate stocks fell unexpectedly, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said in data released Wednesday.

Crude stockpiles came in at 313.5 million barrels in the week to November 14, up 1.6 million barrels, EIA said. That was twice analysts' expectations of a build of 800,000 barrels.

Crude imports rose by 368,000 barrels per day last week.

We need to protect our reserves better. China and India stockpiled on gas and US currency to push us into the current rollercoaster.

That is normal, when gas wash $4.00 a gallon many people went to a more efficient vehicle. We have also been conserving which helps a bunch.. We need to continue to conserve..

This is great for the consumer, but don't expect it to stay this way.

Supply up, demand down, makes the price go down... no if we could only get off oil and move to alternatives, we could do without GM, Ford, and Chrysler... and just maybe the jobs lost by the Detroit automakers could come back with alternative fuel companies...

Keep conserving and the stockpile will continue to grow. And the gas prices will keep dropping. Don't let the low prices lure us back into our old driving habits. The consumer is in control!

They'll have to cut production, not as a way to manipulate price, but simply because nobody's buying the excess. It's just like any other product, they can only store so much of it.

Now the oil companies will shut down a refinery or two to lower production and then claim there is not enough gas in the system.

Who would of thought - they jack the ridiculous price up, we cut back & conserve, yet they keep pumping out excess volumes, of course it stocks up. Now the consumer is in the drivers seat - but they're still thinking of ways to shaft us.

Some of the crude oil import increase could be due to chemcial production increases. If that were so, then it suggests that industry may start to be producing again.

napermike: some speculators actually take what the pundits 'predict' and trade against them. Contrarian trading, as it were.

And if the story of the rising oil going to $150 and beyond makes it to a major magazine cover? Fugetaboutit. Go short.

Similarly, the day you see Newsweek print a cover with "How low can oil go?" with a flaming ball of tar, pile in to oil.
